Weekend Trip To Historic Prescott, Arizona

Okay—if you’re looking for the perfect little weekend getaway that’s just a short 1.5-hour drive from Phoenix, you have to check out Hotel St. Michael in downtown Prescott! My boyfriend and I recently stayed here, and it seriously felt like stepping into a storybook. The hotel is this charming 19th-century gem right in the middle of all the action—like, I’m talking walk-out-your-door-and-you’re-on-Whiskey-Row level of convenience. We spent the weekend wandering around town, grabbing drinks at saloons, and popping into cute little shops, all within walking distance. One thing that I can't get over about the hotel was HOW CUTE the country-themed room we stayed in was!! (Pictured below).

I did not expect the rooms to be decorated and so instagrammable considering it is a very historic and old building (built in the 19th century)! Not only did our room have a sweet country charm (hello, cozy vibes), but there’s also a bistro cafe, bar, and speakeasy all attached to the building—YES, all in one spot! And speaking of the speakeasy… their new spot, Fire & Sword, is underground (how cool?!) with live music and $10 cocktails that taste like a dream. We felt like we discovered some kind of secret gem. There’s also a bunch of vintage art and historic pieces scattered throughout the hotel, so if you’re into history at all (or just like to take pictures by it), you’ll be totally into it.

Pictured below is the "Mezcal You Later" and "Roses Aren't Forever." Super tasty but STRONG cocktails!! For $10-$12, especially in this type of place, you can't beat it. Fire & Sword just opened, but I already heard people talking about it on the streets. It's going to be a popular spot for sure!!

One thing I was unsure about was that it was LOUD for a speakeasy. Live music is a big thing in Downtown Prescott, so there was a live performer and while it wasn't rowdy it was interesting to be in a speakeasy that wasn't super quiet and calm.
At Bistro St. Michael, you HAVE to order this Brisket Benedict that I tried. I mean, just look at it!! Mouthwateringly delicious.

Also, you can tell I really got into wearing my "cowgirl" hat this trip to fit into the town. Because yes, tons of people were wearing them!! They still have real cowboys that live in and visit the town on horseback.

What made the trip even more special was learning about the town’s deep history while still enjoying a super lively night scene. We loved walking everywhere—literally, we didn’t drive once after checking in. From sipping cocktails and listening to live music to exploring the charming shops and grabbing bites at local cafes, everything was just steps away. Prescott had this amazing mix of old western charm and fun downtown energy that completely surprised us. It was the perfect little escape for some quality time, great food, and memorable moments. We did a lot of other things including a tour and checking out some other good restaurants and lively saloons, but that's the next blog (you'll have to wait). For now, here's a FULL in-depth video I poured my heart and soul into showing everything you can expect and look forward to at Hotel St. Michael.
